Vooral de zinsnede "This is why your case will one day or the other reach the desk of the ICC-International Criminal Court." spreekt mij aan in deze open brief van een (gewezen ?) ambassadeur.

Mr President, in view of the above points, I am not convinced that you are a true patriot. Neither are many others convinced! You may have political-parrots forcefully helping you on the word "patriotism" but always remember this alongside. That is, not all critics are crickets in a thicket therefore making noise for no reason. There are many more like me in and out of The Gambia who cannot simply see you as a true patriot. You know why? Because the real meaning of the word does not match your passion with those basic instincts of someone who persecutes for the sake of power and greed. This is exactly why your name has been added on the long list of world dictators. This is why your name will continue floating in that bloody river which stems from the palms of ruthless killers calling themselves leaders like you call yourself. This is why eyes, mouths and tongues are calling you a reckless, armed and powerful head of state who abuses the rights of your citizens. This is why your case will one day or the other reach the desk of the ICC-international Criminal Court. This is where law will determine if you are the person your critics see in you or you are the Pan African you think you are. Unlike you, intelligent minds will not accuse you and judge you without asking you to prove your own case otherwise. Contrary to the latter you in your own circle of "shaped desires" have been accusing people, judging and maiming them from 1994 to date without fair trials. This is exactly why many will painstakingly continue ringing the bells of despair. So that the the whole world would hear the wrongs that obtain in The Gambia. This is when the old father of Chief Ebrima Manneh or others who are sympathizers will be speaking live on international televisions or other platforms after your arrest warrant has been released. You are not to be left alone because you have not left innocent citizens alone. True Patriotism is challenging us to call you before justice, it is also challenging you to answer to justice. Do not brush this off because determination wins any war. I have always told you that one day this road will come to an end and my take on this is twofold That is, either win or kiss death while in the service of national interest! I have a deeper responsibility because I once served under you. Thus mine is about giving back and showing trackers the hidden paths towards your's. Your imaginary heaven means a pool of mirages for many.

While remaining patriots within true patriotism, we pledge our allegiance right below the flag of The Gambia as a nation!

Ambassador Essa Bokarr Sey
